Hello! I am Dr. Regan Blackburn and am so excited to be the newest member of the Paw Haven team of doctors. I was born and raised in Lakeland and am a graduate of Lakeland High School. I cannot wait to meet you and your pets! My goal is to make life-long bonds and relationships with my clients and patients!
Can you tell us about your educational background?
As mentioned, I attended Lakeland High School. I then went on to graduate from Florida Southern College with my Bachelor’s of Science in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry and Psychology. I made a big change for vet school and attended the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2017. The weather and corn fields were a huge change for this Florida girl and I admit I sometimes miss the seasons and colder weather. But, I’ll never miss shoveling snow!
What is your favorite part of your job?
I am passionate about the human-animal bond and decreasing anxiety and fear in my patients while in the veterinary setting and in their daily life. I strive to make them as comfortable as possible while in our care. I also really love dermatology and get so much fulfillment from seeing my patients quality of life improve, often drastically, by managing chronic allergies and other skin related issues.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my husband and our three rescue dogs (Lucille, Bacon, and Buck) and two rescue cats (Alli and Carlos). They keep me pretty busy and there is ALWAYS something to repair or do around our 1925 Bungalow! In our free time, we love visiting Zoo Tampa (it will always be Lowry Park Zoo to me!) as every visit is different and we enjoy seeing the same animals each time and really getting to know them!
